civil liberties disaster

The House of Commons has just voted to make it compulsory for people to have an ID card and to have their personal details stored on a national identity register. Needless to say I think that's appalling, but I've got a presentation to finish for tomorrow, so right now I'm going to conserve energy by not setting out on a rant at the moment.
